Providing Safe and Decent Housing
CHS serves low-income homeowners who are unable to do the work themselves and/or are unable to financially afford a contractor. Repairs done by CHS provide better, healthier homes for people to live in.
Preserving Assets
Many of the people CHS serves are over the age of 60 or disabled, and a have a limited or fixed income. Their home is their largest asset and a source of financial stability for each person. CHS works to maintain that asset, enhancing housing stability through home repairs and housing counseling education.
Helping People Age in Place
Our homeowners’ housing needs are changing or have changed. A recent survey of residents in Cuyahoga County found that 95% of older adults want to age in place. CHS provides accessibility modifications, for example, ramps, grab bars, levered door handles, raised toilets, better lighting, bathroom accessibility repairs.
“I was truly scared about what to do—CHS gave me a roof and a new furnace. I say a prayer every morning. You guys saved my life! I am able to stay in my home because of Community Housing Solutions. ” Monitta L., Cleveland

Before and Afters
“I jumped through hoops to try to get things fixed and save money. But there were more things I needed help with and not enough money. It’s frustrating because people take you for granted—I paid someone to build a ramp for my special needs child and they took my money and did a bad job. CHS makes me feel like a family member. ” Marilyn B., Cleveland
